We have shown how these coatings work in theory. Do they work on the street? Below are two different applications of the products which have been monitored and proven to work. Photographic evidence of self cleaning is shown towards the bottom of the page.
Road Application at Segrate, Milan
The air quality along two stretches of road was monitored. One section of a road between two junctions, 230 metres long and 10 metres wide was treated with photocatalytic EcoRivestimento. Readings were taken from two locations one along the TiO2 coated section of road, the other from the uncoated road. A cross section of ecoactive photocatalytic Ecorivestimento road surface and graphs of the results are shown.
Tunnel Application at Shanghai, China
The air quality along two tunnels approx 120 metres long and approx 5.5 metres high was monitored. The road surface in tunnel A was paved with Proactive Photocatalytic Systemtm Ecorivesitmento Fotofluid Cement. The walls were sprayed with Proactive Photocatalytic Systemtm Activa. UV lights with a wavelength of 350nm were installed every 3 meters at the top of the tunnel. Tunnel B was not given any coatings or UV lighting. The nitrogen dioxide concentration results are shown in the graph below.
